Our hopes and dreams are to bring into the entertainment industry a new kind of Dance Company; to push the limits of controversy, sensuality, and rhythmical dance. We have formed a group that has some of the most highly talented, trained, and respected female dancers in the world! Yemaya was formed on June 1, 2001 by Director and Choreographer Dedelle (Dede) Barbanti. In November 2001, Olivia Dasso joined our team as the Assistant Director. Within our union, each Dancer has the freedom to create and express artistic visions. Within their short time together Yemaya's success has been EXPLOSIVE!! They have performed for the top promoters in Los Angeles, they were invited to perform at a special PRO BOWL players banquet in Hawaii, and they are currently in the works with projects with one of the top promoters on the East Coast, television and their first European tour. The name "Yemaya" was chosen because of it symbolism. Yemaya is an african deity, she is the goddess of the ocean and the moon and the mother of the saints. She is a strong feminine symbol, she is our angel. We want to share with the world what lies within the depths of our hearts and imagination; and with each performance take you on a journey… Let us show you the passion and rhythm of Latin and Afro-Cuban dance.
